Color Theory – Question 1

Having watched the video with Nigel French – describe, in your own words, what each of these color systems means: RGB and CMYK.

Make use of Adobe Color and develop four different color schemes. Please hand in screenshots of your schemes: Monochromatic, Complementary, Triadic, Analogous.

CMYK Color system

C = Cyan M = Magenta Y = Yellow K = Black.

The CMYK color system and subtractive color method. We are using the subtractive color method when painting or printing something. Mixing colors to achieve the color we want. It begins with white and ends with black. Color is created by the effect of light reflecting from a surfaces. The CMYK color system is the color system used for printing.

RGB Color system

R = Red G = Green B = Blue

The RGB color system and additive color method. The colors we see on a screen are created with the additive color method. It begins with black and ends in white. Color is created by the effect of the light moving directly into the eye. The RGB color system is perfect for digital design. RGB color system have endless of colors to choose from unlike the CMYK color system that is more limited.
